Description
The Pelham Single Jointed Short Sweet Iron is a hybrid bit that offers the benefits of both snaffle and curb action — all in one refined design. It allows riders to apply direct pressure on the mouth while also engaging leverage through the shanks, distributing pressure between the mouth, poll, and chin. This dual-action makes it an excellent choice for horses that need additional support or improved balance without resorting to stronger options.

Made from sweet iron, the mouthpiece naturally oxidizes during use, which stimulates salivation and encourages the horse to stay soft and accepting in the mouth. This contributes to a more supple contact and a calmer, more confident way of going.

The single-jointed mouthpiece creates a more direct, straightforward connection, transmitting rein aids with clarity. When the reins are taken, the joint forms a V-shape that distributes pressure over the tongue and bars. This design can suit horses with a higher palate, as the single joint sits neatly in the center of the mouth without creating excessive upward pressure toward the roof. Care & use
